Tulsa World of Gymnastics Becomes an
Area Tradition

SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS: Wayne and Linda Bradshaw have developed one of the most
successful gymnastics facilities in the nation in their 30-plus years at the Tusla World of Gymnastics.

“Teach children they can achieve and they will remember the lesson for life.” This philosophy has been the
building block for Wayne and Linda Bradshaw, owners and directors of Tulsa World of Gymnastics for over
thirty years.

U.S. Classic Gymnastic Festival coming to the Mabee 6/28/00

Olympic Gold Medallist Shannon Miller is coming to Tulsa. She and other 2000 Olympic Women's Gymnastics hopefuls will be ranked at the U.S. Classic National Gymnastic Festival. to represent the United States in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.



Kelly, 14, on a gymastics path to Olympics 8/16/98

 On the eve of Ashley Kelly's triumph in the Region III Elite Meet in Colorado in June, she passed her Elite Gold test. The next month she was runner-up in the All-Around at the U.S. Challenge in New Jersey and finished fifth in the All-Around at the U.S. National Gymnastics Sports Festival at San Antonio.

The Tulsa World of Gymnastics will be host to the United States Classic, one of the last phases for determining the next Olympic team, on July 7-8, 2000 at Mabee Center.

Kathy Kelly and Gary Warren of USA Gymnastics scouted the TOP (Talent Opportunity Program) field of 85 gymnasts in Tulsa Thursday. The Tulsa World Of Gymnastics was buzzing with activity as Kelly, the women's program director, and TOP manager Warren supervised the efforts of the age 9-11 girls from all parts of the United States.


Attagirl, Atler 7/9/00

Olympians Dominique Moceanu, Amy Chow and Jaycie Phelps were the crowd pleasers Saturday night, but Vanessa Atler stole the show. The 18-year-old Atler turned in a nearly flawless routine in the uneven bars and floor exercise -- to the delight of 5,509 Mabee Center fans -- to win her first all-around title since the Australia Cup in 1998.

It didn't take Kristal Uzelac long to get back into championship form.The defending U.S. junior champion, who returned to Parkettes Gym just eight weeks ago from an elbow injury, posted a 37.437 to win the Junior International competition of the U.S. Classic Saturday afternoon at the ORU Mabee Center.

Shannon Miller suffered an injury during a practice session Thursday and will not compete in the U.S. Classic Gymnastics Festival at the Mabee Center this weekend.

An MRI late Thursday revealed a hairline crack in Shannon Miller's right tibia that will force the Olympic gold medalist to miss the U.S. Classic Saturday night.Miller suffered the injury on a vault earlier Thursday at the Mabee Center.

Karolyi begins appraisals 12/13/99

Houston's Bela Karolyi has been involved with gymnastics ever since his early
days in the sport in Transylvania more than four decades ago.  Tulsa World of Gymnastics
will be host for the July session because the U.S. Classic National Gymfest
will be held at ORU's Mabee Center on July 7-8.


Karolyi starts work with National Stars - 12/10/99
Kathy Kelly, senior director of Women's USA Gymnastics, welcomed back
Bela Karolyi on Thursday as consultant to the U.S. national team. Kelly is in
Tulsa for the opening of the three-day Talent Opportunities Program in which 86 national
gymnasts from ages 9 to 12 are participating. Tulsa World of Gymnastics is the TOPS official host.

2000 U.S. Classic Meet Awarded to Tulsa 2/1/99

The final chance for Olympic hopefuls in women’s gymnastics to get on the Road to Sydney will be the U.S. Classic, which will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 7-9, 2000. Tulsa World of Gymnastics will serve as the meet’s official host.

Defection Is Vivid To Geza Pozsar -12/14/97
The date was March 30, 1981, and Geza Pozsar, choreographer for gymnasts for six Olympiads, remembered the day vividly.
