Small Business Person of Year

Tulsa World of Gymnastics president Linda Bradshaw was honored as the 1995 Small Business Person of the Year by the Metropolitan Tulsa Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Susan Savage and KJRH Channel 2 news anchor Karen Keith presented the awards at the Chamber Breakfast Network. Bradshaw's business, started in 1976, has grown from 22 students to more than 1,200. Her business now attracts world-class events to Tulsa, such as the U.S.A. 1996 Pre-Olympic American Classic/World Trials and has been chosen as the USA Gymnastics TOP Training Center for the last four years. Bradshaw herself is active in state and Tulsa community projects and is a new appointment to the 1997 Tulsa Chamber Board of Directors. She served as a delegate to a the 1995 White House Conference of Small Business in Washington, D.C. and attended the Special Olympics World Games as a coach. She serves on the TARC board (Tulsa Association for Retarded Citizens), the Executive Small Business Council Steering Committee at the Tulsa Chamber.

The MTCC Small Business Person of the Year in 1995 is the chairman of the Small Business Council in 1997. Linda Bradshaw, president, Tulsa World of Gymnastics, will lead the efforts to produce programs for the 85 percent of members which have 50 or fewer employees. Bradshaw was a delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business, is a member of the MTCC Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and chaired the Small Business Awards committee in 1996. Companies with 50 or fewer employees are automatically members of the Small Business Council and receive the Small Business Hotline newsletter, and attend many special events like Small Business Breakfast Network, Small Business University and FastTrac. Joining Bradshaw in leading the SBC are co-vice chairs Lynn Martin, president, Gourmet on the Go and Terry May, president, Mesa Corrosion Control Inc. Martin has previously chaired the American Business committee under Career Partners Inc., and May was the 1996 chairman of Breakfast Network.

Tulsa World of Gymnastics Is a Mecca For Family Fitness As Well As A Center of National Gymnastics Activity

Tulsa World of Gymnastics has been selected, for the fourth year in a row, as the "TOP" USA Gymnastics National Training Site by USA Gymnastics, the governing body for the sport of gymnastics. "TOPS" is a Talent Opportunity Program supported by the USA Gymnastics Federation. High priority is to seek out children with gymnastics potential and to extend training opportunities to their coaches with the National USA staff. Emphasis on technical progressions, dance, nutrition and sports psychology. The program is in its fifth year.

The USA National Staff consists of a star studded cast of former World Champions and Olympians. Gary Warren, executive director for TOPS, is joined by 3-time USA Olympic team member Muriel Grossfeld; 9-time World Tumbling champion Steve Elliott; Gheza Pozsar, choreographer for national team members and former Olympian Nadia Comaneci; 88' Games 5-Gold Medalist winner Vladimir Artemov ; USA technicians Tammy Biggs and Artur Akopyan join "Dance" man Toby Towson to round out the stunning field. Dr. Dan Benardot, National Nutritionalist and Dr. Joan Duda, Sports Psychologist are joined with the USA Women's Program Director Kathy Kelly and "Grandmother" of our national women's program Roe Kreutzer. Roe accompanies our USA women's team on all International trips and is literally the absentee mother to hundreds of our national and former Olympic team members.
